CHDIS is a professional international centre for humanitarian diplomacy, peacebuilding, governance, public policy, research and executive education.
The Centre exists to connect scholarship with practice — so that diplomacy, governance and humanitarian action are informed by evidence and delivered with competence.
Welcome to the Centre for Humanitarian Diplomacy and Islamic Solidarity (CHDIS), an independent centre of excellence dedicated to advancing humanitarian diplomacy, peacebuilding, international humanitarian law and Islamic solidarity. Hosted at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), CHDIS serves as a premier platform for research, education, policy dialogue, executive training and humanitarian leadership. We bring together scholars, diplomats, judges, humanitarian practitioners, policymakers, faith leaders and development partners to develop innovative solutions to today's humanitarian and peacebuilding challenges.
CHDIS convenes practitioners, academics, public institutions and humanitarian actors around shared questions of peace, governance and human dignity. Its programme spans policy research, mediation and dialogue, institutional capacity development, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, programme evaluation and risk analysis.
The Centre is hosted at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus, P.O. Box 2555, Mbale, Uganda. Its academic hosting provides scholarly grounding, while its governance and programme are designed for international engagement.
